  • Cougar Newsletter: Important graduation information

Posted by Marcial Guajardo at 5/26/2017 7:00:00 AM

    Dear Connally Family,

It is almost that time: Graduation 2017! We are so looking forward to sharing this special moment with our students, their families and friends.

Attached is very important information regarding the John B. Connally High School graduation. Please plan on parking being difficult at the Erwin Center that day because we are the 3rd graduation that afternoon. You should also anticipate an increase in security protocols at the Erwin Center. So, it might take longer to get into the facility. Please plan accordingly.

Please note: The University of Texas is increasing its security protocol at all commencement exercises held on campus. This will include screening devices at all entrances to the Erwin Center. Attendees will be required to remove all metal objects, electronic devices, etc., and have purses/bags searched during the screening. Please take this into account and adjust your arrival time accordingly.

We look forward to seeing you all at graduation June 3, 2017 at 3:30 p.m.

    Thanks,

    Sheila Reed

    Dear Connally Family,

It is hard to believe that the year is almost over and that it is time for final exams. I have attached a copy of the exam criteria and bell schedule. Please make sure that your student is aware of the expectations.

Thank you for all of your support this past week, when we celebrated our teachers during the service banquet, the PAC dedication, our students’ Academic Awards and Baccalaureate. Thanks to all who made the week a success. As we prepare to end the year, this was a well-deserved weekend!

Parents, we need your help in ensuring that the last two weeks of school run smoothly! Students will not be allowed to bring backpacks/large bags/oversized purses to school beginning Thursday, May 25, through the end of the year. Students will be cleaning out lockers and turning in books this week, so if backpacks/bags/oversized purses are brought to school, they will be kept in the attendance office until the end of the day.

Also we know that the weather has been nice and has gotten warmer, our district dress code is still in effect. I have attached a copy of the district expectations for dress code again so you can assist us in making sure your student meets the district expectation. We appreciate your support!

    Dear Connally Family,

The job of being a mother is sometimes unappreciated, with no pay and no days off, and it is impossible to resign the job. There is no way we can ever really thank mothers for all they do, but Mother’s Day is one of the best times of the year to say in words how much we love and care for mothers. My hope is that you were able to share your appreciation with your family and friends to celebrate a wonderful Mother’s Day with those who have inspired success, supported and provided guidance, strength and encouragement. I send my warmest wishes and greetings to all mothers.

As the year draws to a close, it’s a great time to look back at this unforgettable year and know that I’m immensely proud of the work that our teams/departments are doing to continue to make our campus a force for good, both through our ability to provide students with a quality education in a safe environment and by making a difference on issues that touches their lives. This year marks the school’s 20th anniversary, which will allow us to celebrate years of preparing students to be ready for the world around them.

Today, with the unlimited innovation of instructional practices and the integrated of technology in our classrooms, we will ensure that our students continue to be college ready, workplace ready and future ready.

The achievements of our graduating seniors are a credit to our teachers who are constantly pushing and supporting them to reach beyond their limits. Year after year, Connally gets better and better because of the teachers hard work and dedication to serve all students.

I love working with all of you and for all of your students. As we look to the future of Connally, let us not stop thinking about the possibilities we can achieve together.

    Dear Connally Family,

We just celebrated the wonderful time of year where we recognize our teachers! We showed them our appreciation all week for everything that they do on a daily basis because they are amazing! Not only are they an important part of our student’s lives, but they also have a huge impact on the campus’ future! We send a great big thank you to our PTA for the wonderful snacks, treats and breakfast.

Students will continue taking the Advanced Placement exams (May 8-12) and have been given specific instructions to arrive by 7:30 a.m. for the early morning exams. Please make sure your student arrives on time if they are taking a morning test this week, so they do not miss out on this opportunity. Due to testing and finals, we will run a (Friday) NO PAWS schedule for the remainder of the year.
