Frequently Asked Questions
Attendance:Regular school attendance is essential for a student to make the most of his or her education--to benefit from teacher-led and school activities, to build each day's learning on the previous day's and to grow as an individual. If a student is tardy, they report to the tardy table at the book room located in the main hallway to receive a tardy pass. For each tardy a student will be assigned an hour tutorial with a teacher of their choice. Once they have completed that tutorial they will turn in a note from their teacher verifying the tutorial to the tardy table.Multiple tardy offenders will be referred to appropriate AP.
How can I get my student out of class for an appointment?
To avoid a long wait for your student in the main office (and so we won't have to interrupt valuable classroom instruction time), the preferred method is:
1) E-mail HHSAttendance@pfisd.net. as soon as you know the time and date of your child's appointment. Include the following information in your e-mail: Student name, ID #, reason student is leaving (doctor, dentist appointment or other), what day and time your student needs to leave, and a daytime phone number where we can reach you (information may be verified). A Permit to Leave Class will be prepared for them. Your student can pick it up before school in the Main Office. At the time they need to leave, they will present the form to the teacher.
2) Send a note with your student to the main office before school. Please include the information requested above. They will be given a Permit to Leave Class to present to the teacher. Unless a student drives, parents are to come to the Main Office to sign out their student.
How do I get access to the parent portal to view my child's grades online?
Passwords to the parent portal can be picked up any regular business day in the Student Services Office. Please bring your driver's license for proof of identification.
Sorry, for security reasons, we are unable to e-mail passwords.
Do students have separate passwords to view their grades?
Your student does not have a separate password. They can gain access by asking you to share your passwords with them.
How will my child's grades be generated?
What is the cell phone policy?
On the first offense, a parent signature is required before the phone will be released. The main office is open from 8:00 am to 4:45 pm Monday through Friday.
The second offense carries a $15 fine and a parent signature.
On the third offense, the cell phone is kept until the end of the school year.
Please do not call your student during the day. They could get their phone confiscated answering your call! If you have an emergency and need to reach your student, please call the main office. We will be happy to deliver a message to your student in between classes.
