Timmerman Elementary Library
Library Use
Hours: 7:15 am - 3:15 pm on school days. Students, teachers, and parents can check out and return materials during this time.
Students visit the library to check out materials on an as needed basis as they finish their reading materials. Books are borrowed for a 1 week time period. Kinder readers check out 1 book at a time. 1st through 5th graders are allowed 2 books at a time. There are no fines for overdue books but checkout privileges are frozen until all overdues are returned. Fines will be charged for damaged and lost books.
The whole class comes to the library when they need to do research or for library lessons and stories.
TES Library Online Catalog
Students can access the Library Catalog from home by following these steps:
1. Go to the PISD homepage
2. Along the top of the screen, select the Student tab.
3. Click on PISD Libraries Online.
4. Click on Timmerman Elementary
You may then type in the Title, Author, or Subject you’re looking for. This search method leads you to titles in our collection as well as recommended websites for student research.
If you would like to narrow the search to Accelerated Reader books only, change the Search Reading Programs drop down menu to Accelerated Reader. You can also add in your child’s reading level.

Accelerated Reader (AR)
AR is a program that allows students to take reading comprehension quizzes over books they have read. Students earn points based on the length of the book and the number of questions they answer correctly.
Teachers set individual goals for each student, based on their reading level as determined by a STAR reading test. Goals will be set every nine weeks. Students reaching their nine weeks goals will receive a dog tag.
Parents may view their child’s AR progress by visiting Renaissance Home Connect and having them use their AR login. If you have further questions, please ask your classroom teacher.
This is a fun way to honor your child or your child’s teacher and help support the library. Parents donate $5-$15 to the library. The student chooses a book, and a book plate with their name is added to the front. The student’s picture is displayed on the TES Library bulletin board, and they get their name in the Timmerman Times and on the scrolling announcements.

Volunteers Make It WORK
Have some extra time? There are MANY ways you can help in our Library:
Helping students locate great books.
Helping students check books in and out.
Reading to students.
Re-shelving books.
Labeling AR books to make them easily identifiable for students.
Book Fair in September and February is also a great opportunity to help out, as they are FUN and FUNdraisers for the library!
