Counselor's Corner

My name is Lisa Flood and I am the counselor at Windermere Elementary. I am excited that your child is attending Winderemere Elementary School!  Windermere Elementary is an excellent elementary school with many fantastic opportunities and special programs.

I was an elementary teacher before I began counseling.  I received my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and I earned my Masters of Education Degree in Counseling and Human Development and began my career as a school counselor in 1991.

My job at Windermere Elementary is to help your child have a positive school experience.  If I can be of any help to you or your family, please feel free to stop by Rm 29, call me at 512-594-4826, or drop me a note at lisa.flood@pflugervilleisd.net.  I look forward to working with you and your child!  These are some of the services that I provide at Windermere Elementary School:

Classroom Lessons

I arrange a time with each teacher to visit the classroom once a month and lead lessons on decision making, problem solving, behavior, friendship, anti-bullying and self esteem, using books, small group activities and role plays.

Counseling Groups

As time permits, I have small counseling groups for more specific issues taking place in children's lives (friendship concerns, divorce, behavior issues, bereavement, etc.) through games, books, and discussions.  If this opportunity is offered to your child, you will receive a permission slip from me.  You will have to return signed permission slip in order for your child to participate.

Individual Counseling

I am also available to speak with a parent or child individually about a problem on a as needed basis.   Please contact me if you would like to discuss your concerns or to let me know about any major changes that occur in your child's life.

Consultation

I regularly speak with parents, teachers, administrators, and other staff members to facilitate development of appropriate services for students.

Assessment

I am the Advanced Academics Program Coordinator, the TAKS Coordinator, and the 504 Coordinator.
