The Pflugerville Board of Trustees Friday approved 5-0 the appointment of deputy superintendent Dr. Troy Galow. Trustees Dr. Carol Fletcher and Jimmy Don Havins were not in attendance. Galow is currently the deputy superintendent in Copperas Cove ISD, a district of more than 8,200 students near Killeen. He is expected to take his new role in PISD June 18. “I believe we have identified an individual who possesses skills and experiences we need at this critical time for our district,” Superintendent of Schools Charles Dupre said. “During his time in both Leander and Copperas Cove, Troy displayed tremendous leadership across many different areas, something that is vital in the role of deputy superintendent. We are thrilled to add Troy to our team.”
Galow emphasizes collaboration and communication as two key components of a successful organization. He seeks to create a positive learning environment to facilitate growth and development for both students and staff.
“I am honored to join such a remarkable educational community. Pflugerville is a tremendously exciting school district with an established reputation of high achievement,” he said. “I look forward to working with the staff, students, and community to build on the momentum that PISD has created as a leader in public education."
Galow was named Copperas Cove deputy superintendent in February 2010. Prior to his time in CCISD, he worked in a variety of roles for the Leander school district, starting as a middle school teacher and coach in 1996. After serving as a middle school assistant principal, a high school associate principal and assistant director for student support services, he was named director of employee relations in 2007, a position he held until his departure for CCISD.
Notable accomplishments at CCISD under Galow’s leadership include achieving Recognized status for only the second time in nine years, as well as the creation and establishment of a new district strategic plan. He played a key role in the development of a successful $500 million bond package for Leander ISD, and has experience overseeing the construction of new facilities, most recently completing construction of a new 800 student elementary school in CCISD.
