Principals at Pflugerville Middle School and Kelly Lane Middle School were recently notified that their schools have won awards from the Michael and Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living, thanks to the schools’ hard work toward keeping kids healthy.
The Coordinated Approach To Child Health (CATCH) program coordinates healthy eating, classroom curriculum, physical education and family relationships to help students live a more healthy and well balanced life. KLMS and PMS both participate in the CATCH program, and their hard work is being recognized.
Both schools were awarded CATCH MVP awards, and in June they will receive plaques at the CATCH MVP Ceremony. In addition to the recognition KLMS was awarded $1,000 and PMS was given $500.
“Our teachers are trying to offer our students a well balanced education, and that means teaching them how to be healthy in every way,” said Dwayne Weirich, the district’s Coordinator of Wellness/Athletic Director. “These awards are another indicator that out teachers are offering the education our students need.”
