PISD teachers awarded A+ Education Foundation grants
Three Pflugerville ISD teachers will start the school year with a little extra help from the A+ Education Foundation as part of the 2012 Educator Grant Program. The A+ Education Foundation awarded the teachers with grants to help fund materials, programs and training for the upcoming school year.
The A+ Education Foundation, established and developed by A+ Federal Credit Union, awarded 74 grants totaling more than $67,000. The three Pflugerville ISD winners are:
Jennifer McCauley, Connally High School - Project: “By Hook, or By Crook, or By Nook!”
Lingxiu Zhong, Connally High School - Project: “Setting the Stage for Chinese”
Cheryl Michulka, Westview Middle School - Project: “The Writer’s Den”
“I am very proud of these outstanding educators who took the initiative to provide an enriched educational environment to their students,” Superintendent Charles E. Dupre said. “We have so many amazing teachers here at Pflugerville ISD who are dedicated to ensuring that each child receives the quality education they deserve.”
This year’s 74 winning submissions included a vocational and life skills program, play materials for school counseling, an outdoor classroom, reading clubs, robotics, a writer’s den program, speech therapy, improving the effectiveness of teaching through technology, a social skills enrichment program, linking the school garden to academic achievement, and a motor sensory and therapy lab.
