Hendrickson HS ROTC Earns Prestigious "Naval Honor School" Distinction

The Hendrickson Marine Corps JROTC program has been awarded the title of “Naval Honor School” for the 2011-2012 school year. This is one of the highest awards that can be earned by a program and is only given to the top 20 percent of Marine Corps JROTC programs in the nation.

The award also provides students who have a desire to join a service academy the significant advantage of earning recommendation letters from their ROTC instructors who, under this award designation, carry just as much weight as a letter from a state senator/congressman.

When looking at the requirements for this award, judges look at students’ involvement outside of ROTC, academic performance, community service, inspection results and many other areas.

"In region 5 there are 54 Marine Corps ROTC programs and we ended up finishing in 7th place overall, fantastic for only a second-year program. Our goal will be to continue to climb the rankings and end up being the best program in the region and one of the best in the nation," stated ROTC Instructor 1st Sergeant Ed Amadis.
