A+ Federal Credit Union opened its doors to its third high school branch located at Hendrickson High School, 2905 FM 685 in Pflugerville, at the start of the school year and will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, Oct. 1 at 4:30 p.m. at the new facility. Attendees will hear from PISD, A+FCU and Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce leaders, along with student performances.
The new branch will be open to the public and, due to its close proximity to elementary and middle schools, will provide a banking convenience for northern Pflugerville families, students and teachers.
“We’re excited to welcome A+ Federal Credit Union at Hendrickson for the 2012-2013 school year and beyond,” Hendrickson Principal Devin Padavil said. “By bringing A+FCU to Hendrickson, we’re providing elementary, middle and high school students a close location to begin saving money and learning financial responsibility. We’re also creating opportunities for Hendrickson students to learn about the world of banking and finance through generous internship opportunities provided by A+FCU.”
Three student interns will help staff the branch and will receive course credit and pay for their work. Additionally, the institution will offer members a Hawk Nation debit card, which will help earn cash for Hendrickson HS.
“We are thrilled to be strengthening our partnership with Pflugerville Independent School District,” said Kerry A. S. Parker, CEO. “By working together, both our organizations help improve the financial literacy of tomorrow’s leaders. In the current economic climate, it’s more important than ever to have a solid understanding of smart money management. This high school branch will give students the hands-on learning they need to prepare themselves for the future.”
