A Few Words from Our Best and Brightest

More than 1,500 PISD seniors graduated over the weekend in three separate ceremonies at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. We caught up with the valedictorians and salutatorians from each PISD high school to see what they have planned for the future. 
 
 
 
HHS students Valedictorian – Hendrickson High School
Name: Katy Herrick
College: New York University
Expected Major: Computer Science and Economics
Where do you think you’ll be in 10 years? Out of college, for sure.
What will you miss most about high school? My friends. I’ve gotten very close to them.
Any words of wisdom for future graduates? Have fun!
 
 
Salutatorian – Hendrickson High School
Name: Jenna Weiss
College: Texas A&M University
Expected Major: Civil Engineering
Where do you think you’ll be in 10 years? Working for a large community-serving company of civil engineers.
What will you miss most about high school? The small community. You get to know everyone here.
Any words of wisdom for future graduates? Always try your best.
 
 

 
 
Edward Butt Valedictorian – Connally High School

College: University of Texas
Expected Major: Biology
Where do you think you’ll be in 10 years? If I’m not already a neurosurgeon, working towards being one.
What will you miss most about high school? All of the good experiences with friends.
Any words of wisdom for future graduates? Do whatever makes you happy.
 
 
 
 
Chi VU Salutatorian – Connally High School
Name: Chi Vu
College: University of Texas
Expected Major: Biology
Where do you think you’ll be in 10 years? Working as an optometrist in a private practice.
What will you miss most about high school? All of the different kinds of people I’ve met. You can’t really get that in some places.
Any words of wisdom for future graduates? Try to learn about yourself. Once you’ve figured that out, be yourself.
 
 
 
 
PHS Students Valedictorian – Pflugerville High School
Name: Benjamin Laird
College: University of Texas
Expected Major: Mechanical Engineering
Where do you think you’ll be in 10 years? Hopefully done with schooling, working in an engineering firm, maybe with a family.
What will you miss most about high school? All of my friends and teachers there. I’ve made a lot of nice relationships with people there, and I’m going to miss not seeing a lot of them.
Any words of wisdom for future graduates? Pay attention in class and get your work done, but still have fun.
 
 
Salutatorian – Pflugerville High School
Name: Whitney Orji
College: Rice University
Expected Major: Biochemistry and Cell Biology
Where do you think you’ll be in 10 years? Hopefully working as a pediatrician or interning to become a pediatrician.
What will you miss most about high school? Some of the friends I’ve made because they’re awesome people.
Any words of wisdom for future graduates? Always work hard.
