• Wolf Pack Update: Aug. 6, 2020

Posted by Marcial Guajardo on 8/6/2020

    Dear Wolf Pack Family,

The faculty and staff are making our final preparations for the 2020-21 school year, and I am so excited. The teachers’ energy and enthusiasm has been amazing as we prepare to get the campus ready to teach our students both virtually and in-person for when our students return to campus.

PfISD will be starting the school year 100% online on Aug. 13, with the first possible day for on-campus instruction currently scheduled for Sept. 8.

The Wolf Pack has responded to the challenges of preparing for a new school year during this difficult time and I thank the members of our leadership team for guiding our work to this point.

The district has updated our guidelines and protocols for On-Campus Learning and Virtual Learning for the upcoming school year. Please visit our website,www.pfisd.net/fall2020, to view these additional guidelines.

My hope is this additional information helped you choose between remaining in online virtual learning or returning to campus for in-person instruction when both options become available.

Remember the deadline to complete this choice form was extended and today is the last day to complete it.  The form you were are asked to complete is titled "Registration Selection SY20-21" and can be found in your Skyward Parent Portal. You must be logged into Skyward with your parent username and password and not a student's information in order to view or complete this form.

If you have already completed your student’s choice form and you would like to change your selection, contact our campus registrars,Kathi.Kenyon@pfisd.net and Marsha.Stephanson@pfisd.net, to request changing your selection.

I will continue to send updated information and please continue to visit the district website, https://www.pfisd.net/, often for the latest updates.

    Thank you,

    Sheila Reed, WHS Principal

    Greetings Wolf Pack Families!

We hope that you and your families are doing well, staying safe, and getting the hang of Remote Learning.  As you are aware, in accordance with orders from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, PfISD campuses and facilities will remain closed through the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year. We will await guidance from state and local officials to determine when schools will reopen.

    Removing Student Belongings from Campuses:

Please see the attached flyer for student pick-up and drop-off.  Textbooks and school issued equipment needs to be labeled and dropped off.  Personal items in lockers will be gathered, bagged, and labeled for students to pick-up during the assigned drive-through times.  Students will not be allowed in the building.

    Student Technology Access Surveys:

    CTE Remote Learning Website:

The career and technical education (CTE) team has curated remote learning information for all CTE courses. The CTE Remote Learning website is linked on the PfISD Remote Learning website/Scope and Sequence page and includes:

    • Middle and high school campus CTE information

      • alphabetical listing of CTE teachers (there are over 90)
      • CTE courses taught by each teacher, with a link to the course scope/sequence (more than 100 files)
      • online learning platform access information (Google Classroom, etc.)

    College and Career Center News:

Please check out the main Weiss High School website for more information.

    Senior Communication:

Mrs. Brown (Senior Assistant Principal) has a scheduled Zoom meeting each Monday for checking in and supporting our first graduating class.  She communicates the Zoom link/code via email directly to the senior students.  We encourage all seniors to join in for questions and collaboration.

At this time, no decisions have been made about graduation.  There is a district committee that is meeting to discuss all options.  We will await guidance from state and local officials to determine what next steps can be taken.

Dear Wolf Pack Students, Parents and Guardians,

We know this is a strange time as we transition to remote learning and working from home. Our spring semester looks very different than what we expected. After a week of remote learning, we are pleased to say that our teachers are working tirelessly to create unique and creative ways to present material to students, and our students are responding well. We will continue to try to reach each and every student.

Unfortunately, as a result of these closures many of our events have been cancelled. One of those events that our students look forward to the most each year is Prom. Due to these circumstances surrounding COVID-19, we will be cancelling this year’s Prom. At this time there are no plans to reschedule the event. However, we will always consider how we might provide this experience to our students should the opportunity present itself.

I know there are also many questions about graduation ceremonies. This is a fluid situation and we are still working with local and state authorities to determine if we will be able to hold our graduation ceremonies as scheduled. We will inform parents as soon as decisions are made.

We realize that every household may look different, but remember, we are here to connect with you and your children to try to provide some type of support and school connection if that is possible. Please do not stress if there are not enough devices in your home, or if there are other barriers that might get in the way. We understand, and we hope that you will stay positive and encourage your students to just do the best they can.

Wishing you and your family hope and a positive outlook during  this time. Stay well!

  • A New School Year

Posted by Marcial Guajardo on 8/22/2019 7:00:00 AM

Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year – the year we graduate our first senior class!

Exciting times are upon us. I can report a great start to the year. Oh, how we have grown! And, we continue to do so. Please know as we continue to register students, we are leveling classes and trying to get all students in the right place.

Our Assistant Principals have started Class Talks this week and are teaching and reminding our students about our high expectations for all.

We will soon begin our Power Hour. Please ask you student the expectations of Power Hour. It is a unique privilege and it is much more than lunchtime for students. We want all students to take responsibility for their learning, and get the support that they need during this time. They can access their teachers for extra help, complete make-up work and classroom projects, or have a study group to prepare for a test. They are expected to grab lunch and take care of business.

Our young people are already hard at work, or are already in competitions: Cross Country, Tennis, Volleyball, Football, and our Wolf Band & Scarlets Dance Team. Others gearing up are Theatre, Swimming, and Golf. We appreciate all of our coaches and leaders for creating a safe, exciting, and fun experience for our Wolf Pack.
